Hello, I’m AmberLee. I’m a California country girl, cooking and chocolate fanatic, (I own a gourmet hot chocolate shop here) book nerd, and mom to three.

I believe in

hard work
playing hookie
anything alfresco,
picnics especially!
good food
good reads
making friends
learning from people
potlucks
making it from scratch
minding my manners
family dinners, simple ones, and
big breakfasts
handwritten letters
happy mail
idyle time
doing my part
long talks, especially
bedtime talks with my kids
spring cleaning
making lists (!!!)
staying the course

There never seems to be enough time to spend on all the things I adore. But I do my best and share it here. I hope you enjoy!

Hi! I have been looking at your blog and reading your recipes the past few days, and I just wanted to tell you how much I love your blog! I really love all your recipes. And how you know so much about all of it, I love getting to read about all of it. I am now planning to make your flourless chocolate cake recipe, and in hopes to one day make a chocolate soufflé. Anyway, I just wanted to say how great your blog is!

Hi! I just discovered & fell in love with your website/blog. I have a question though: Under the heading “Party Favors” on the right hand side, there is a pic of some really cute clips(???) but they were not in that category when I clicked on it. Can you tell me where to find them on your site?
Thanks!!!

Hi Heidi,
Thanks for the sweet note! And I am so sorry I messed you up on that post!! Here is the link:

I originally got it from Noodleheads, who got it from here. I cheat by adding the back fabric with fabric glue. THat makes it so simple that it is one of our favorite projects. So cute, even on big girls.

Dear Amber…I have sure been enjoying your website since I got my first at home computor this spring! I’m a 59 year old Mom of 5 and my kids think it’s really a hoot that Mom is finally getting up to speed. I am really having a great time sharing ideas back and forth with my Daughter in Georgia who has 3 young children, you are definately a kindred spirit to the two of us. One of my passions is to proclaim that a 44 cent stamp is the cheapest way to encourage, surprise, remember, console or acknowledge someone. You are helping fire my furnace!! I would like to know if you would share a “snail mail”address for me to share some things with you.
Keep on sharing…there are lots of us enjoying! Happily, Gabi Stepp from
Minnesota PS I helped my Sunday School kids make the MOM washer necklaces for Mother’s Day. They had fun, and the gifts turned out mighty cute.

Um, hi Amber!!! Funny story – I found this blog from a link at eighteen25, and I was scrolling down not really paying attention, when I saw the post on barbecue and thought ‘I know that guy…who writes this blog???’ And lo and behold, it is you!!! So glad to have found it – you are so uber-talented!

Hi Amber,

I recently found your website and love the Happy Mail section. I was wondering if I can use some of your images as a part of a blog that I am writing for my internship. The blog will be about new invitation ideas and I wanted to use your pictures as inspiration for creative and personal invitations. I would be happy to give you credit for it. I hope to hear from you soon!

Yours in planning,
Thu Ha
