I am not a gadget girl. In my kitchen I like to have one good knife, (okay, and I also have a mandolin cutter and a food processer I love), but I don’t have the other specialty choppers and slicers. Maybe I’m a little too simple minded to keep track of more than three slicers.
But I could not wait to get my hands on a Silhouette SD. Because it’s not a gadget, it’s the good knife. Just wait, I’ll show you what I mean.
If you’re not familiar with the Silhouette, it’s like your printer, only instead of laying ink on a piece of paper, it cuts shapes out of paper, cardstock, vinyl, and more. I was sent one of these wonderful wonderful machines to sample, and told if I didn’t like it I could send it back, no strings attached. That was very polite of you, Silhouette, but puh-lease, I’m not sending back the Silhouette. And I’m not sending back my first born either. Thank you.
The second I plugged this thing in a world of possibilites opened up to me. (Wahahaha, the world is mine!) I can’t even believe how my head was spinning from the possibilities. So in honor of the Silhouette, I’m having a week-long Silhouette fest. Starting and ending with this giveaway.
Here are ten things you need to know about the Silhouette.
1. My husband was impressed. He was saying things like “Hmm, you can use an SD card if you don’t want to plug it into your computer.” My husband has never, NEVER noticed a craft or art supply in his life.
2. I set this thing up all by myself. I am notoriously bad at installing software. But this I set up in a flash. You can congratulate me. Thank you. But really, it was very easy.

3. You can purchase designs to cut at Silhouette’s online store. One by one if you like. For really cheap. No cartridges are involved. And Silhouette has sales to make things cheaper. And the designs rock. Here’s a Silhouette design I used for a little project I’ll be sharing with you soon.
4. You can draw your own designs right in the software. Check it. The drawing tools are super intuitive. And one of the best buttons for doing it is the “weld shapes” button, which lets you draw two or more shapes and weld them into one.

5. You can turn any image what-so-ever into a design to cut. (I almost hyperventilated when I discovered this.) Just click on the “get outline” button and choose the image from your computer. I decided to put this to the ultimate test and upload silhouettes of my kids and nieces. I could not believe my eyes when I peeled off the vinyl. I was looking at intricate, detailed, accurate little portraits of my own children.

6. You can cut any true type font on your computer. Like I said, the possibilities are endless. Here’s a cake I decorated using an image and font I sized to fit the cake. (Yes, it even decorates cakes. Just place the design, sift sugar over, and remove the paper. Easiest cake decorating ever.)
7. When you get your Silhouette SD, you will immediately fall into a happy oblivion. Don’t plan on doing any laundry or dishes that day. You will start bookmarking all kinds of projects, like glass etching, screen printing, vinyl wall decorating and vinyl iBook decorating, homemade garland, homemade cards that will make everyone think you’re a creative genius, and so so much more.

I wanted my ibook to be as much of a geek as I am. This may be a good time to tell you, Silhouette is deisnged only for PCs right now. A Mac version is expected to come in the fall. In the meantime, there are a couple hacks you can use to run it from your Mac.
It’s possible I got a little carried away.
Here’s a sneak peek at a very fun girlie tutorial I have coming soon.
8. Silhouette has very awesome mediums you can buy on their shop. I worked with their vinyl and it was premium. Oh so smooth with perfect tackiness. I can’t wait to try the heat transfer and make myself a cool tee.
9. You will never, ever have trouble coming up with a customized gift. Do you like how this drink tray turned out for my mom? I made it in a flash. I’ll share full details soon.
10. You will wonder how you ever lived with out it. Kind of like my first born.
To sum up. The Silhouette SD can help you with your homemade gifts, gift wrap, home decor, party decor, your baking, and your DIY fashion. Not bad. Stick around to join in on my week-long Silhouette fest. Tomorrow you’ll hear from Crystal (hooray!), then you can expect three Silhouette tutorials and a giveaway winner announced on Wednesday. It’s going to be fun.
I hope you’re as excited as I am about all this. I’ll leave you with a little more eye candy from the amazing crafters at Silhouette.te Stop their site to see more. Good luck!

I would lOVE to win a silhouette! I’d use it for a ton of vinyl wall decor and the heat transfer for t-shirts is fantastic! and oh- those kids silhouettes!!!
Would love this! I am in love with the cupcake liners, so cute!
This is a perfect giveaway. I’ve been doing card making/paper crafts and it would be amazing to have a Silhouette to make it easier and look more professional!
WOW, I love this machine already. I really would like to use it to make cutouts and such for the decorations for my upcoming wedding. I’m thinking some silhouettes and names for placecards at the rehearsal dinner, for starters. And I know that the silhouette would be well-loved and used for homemade gifts, my favorite kind!
oh the possibilities…oh the endless possibilities! the kids rooms would get a magical decal overhaul!
Oh wow. I’m just thinking of the banners and presents and cakes and – did you see the beautiful books lined up on the project pages, with lovely paper covers and labels? Wow. And the FISHBOWL?!!! Amazing. I would totally make those :).
I’d use it to make silhouette art for our walls. There are so many things to make that it’s so difficult to choose just one!
i love the ideas for cards and garland – i’m a sucker for paper crafts! especially with all the great detailed designs – i hope i win! :)
I am moving into a new house and would love to see some vinyl on my walls…and in my laundry room…and pantry.
I would love to start making homemade cards! They look so amazing.
Wow! This is amazing! I love the vinyl decor and the endless card making possibilities!
I love the kids’ train bin. My boys’ room would be uber-organized if I had one!
Oh my goodness… I love the cupcake wrappers, so I’d probably start with that along with labels and party decor for my sweet nieces birthday. But then there is the home decor that would make my office/craft room look fantastic. All the projects look awesome… Hope I get to try it. :-)
Wow! I would LOVE a Silhouette! :) I’d pretty much use it for everything – vinyl, heat transfer, glass etching, card making, scrapbooking. I am loving the silhouettes right now though! They’d be first on my list. Thanks!
That would be amazing! I would totally use it to try the glass etching and to make super fun paper garland for parties!
The questions is what wouldn’t i make. Of course, I would use it for my cards, but I might move into heat transfer for kids t-shirts and I have always tried to do etching with little success, maybe this would help. Thanks for the opportunity!
I couldn’t find the dessert table one in particular, but that is my fave! Next would be the bunting. :)
This would save hours of cutting out custom shapes! I love giving hand made wedding gifts. What wouldn’t be cooler than a Pyrex dish with your new married name etched onto the bottom, or champagne glasses with your profiles? It’s impossible to make these look neat when you cut everything by hand, but this would make it perfect! I’d love to win this, but if I don’t I definitely have a new item on my Christmas wish list!
I would love to use this to make designs to put on handmade candles! Soo many possibilities with this machine!
I told my husband today I really really really needed one of these. My first project would be something vinyl for our den…over the mantle. And then something in the kitchen…I could go on and on!
Oh wow. I love the glass etching too. My mom made me a casserole pan with my name on it once, but I lost it (sad) and I guarantee it was a lot trickier project than I’d attempt with an x-acto knife. This machine looks super cool.
AHH!!! This gadget looks amazng. I love making my own greeting cards so this would help me take it to a whole new level! Thanks for sharing your review. *my fingers are crossed* :D
This is superb! all the fine crafts I could create, gifts I could make, luv I could share :) Pick Me! Pick me! Thanks for the chance.
Swoon! I’d love to make new vinyl stickers for the nursery. We just moved and forgot our old ones at the old house. I can’t find the “perfect” design I want . . . but I certainly could make it with the silhouette!
Oh my gosh- what a fantastically useful thing! I had a hard time deciding on a project- they all are awesome, but I’d have to say t-shirts first.
Thanks for such a great giveaway!
Oh boy… I’m in the middle of planning my DIY wedding… my friends keep telling me I’ll need a crafting intervention! I’m making everything from invitations, to thank-you cards, rsvp cards, buffet signs, photo signs, wedding activities… what couldn’t I do with this machine??? nothing! I could do everything… they also poke fun because I own the bedazzler… what better then a machine that could produce patterns for me to continue on my quest to bedazzle anything in my possesion :)
-Aubrey
Cupcake holders and t-shirts! OMG…the possibilities!
I would love to make the butterfly wall decals they show!
Thanks for the opportunity to win such a cool gadget! First I would make decorations for the walls of my new house. Then I would try everything else!
Wow—-I don’t even know where to start. This machine is fabulous!! I would definitely have to start with the vinyl lettering. Thanks so much!
I couldn’t even begin to tell you the things I liked. But I know that if I won this that vinyl would be calling my name and my walls would never look so good!
This looks fantastic. I’d make decals and cupcake wrappers and etching templates…and and and … I’d have to quit my day job, that’s for sure. Now if only I had an extra $250….
wowhoo!!!!! You made me fall in love with this machine. I will definetely put into my wishlist…. the possibilities are endless and my head is spinning with ideas
Oh, Silhouettes are so cool! I would definitely use it to improve my card-making. The only problem is I might get addicted, and start sticking cutouts on everything…
(By the way, be careful using Facebook for extra entries. There are some sticky regulations there.)
I need this. Like, NEED IT. I would begin by creating wall decals. And then I would take over the world with the crafting genius afforded me by the Silhouette SD.
I’d Love love love one of these. I think the heat transfer looks right up my alley.
I have a cricut and adore it, but a friend has a sillouette. I LOVE how it can cut far more intricatly than the cricut can… its on my wish list! I would use it to keep scrapping and card making and cut vinyl for my walls and do projects for my boys school…. the list is endless!!!
off to fb to “like” you!
Gasp! SIGN ME UP! I’d love to have one of those gadgets. I was sold when you showed the cake decorating thing. I’m trying to always find new ways to decorate cupcakes and such, so yesssss…please sign me up. I’m going to your facebook page RIGHT NOW.
What a great giveaway! I think the first project I would try is the glass etching – especially putting my name on my glass 9 x 13 glass pans – I just lost my favorite one!
I have been drooling over one of these! I would use it to cut some vinyl letters to decorate our children’s areas at church.
I would love to try heat transfer as well… no more tirelessly trimming freezer paper!
I would love, love, love to win this giveaway! I’m actually wondering if the heat transfer would work to put my horse’s name on her halter…that would be awesome to try! Of course, I like the option to do things with vinyl and to make my own cards, too.
Wow! There are so many cute things I could make but since I am a big scrapbooker, I love the Backyard Friends layout with the tree branches.
I would totally do some vinyl wall decor, enhance my card making skills, and the glass etching — awesome! this tool is INCREDIBLE!
I LOVE the cupcake cups. I’ve always thought it would be fun to make personalized designs for pretty parties and have been jealous of artists who get to print their patterns on the little cups. It’s such a fun idea, and I could give them away to my friends who love to bake!
P.S. My friend and I really enjoy your blog and have sent some fun little treats back and forth. Emails are great and better than nothing, but you’ve inspired me to take the extra few minutes to send a special little package : ) thanks!
If I had one of these amazing machines, I would make the adorable custom onesies and T-shirts! I have 2 little girls and I like to make cute clothes for them. The Silhouette would make it so much easier and the results much more satisfying!
I’m dying to try making some vinyl cutouts for my walls.
I feel like there are endless possibilities with the Silhouette! The best thing about this product is that you can create so many personalized items … that way I never get bored. Also, what a great way to make your loved ones feel special — from creating personalized decorations to fun silhouetted t-shirts. I’m in-LOVE! I think I would consume my time making vinyl silhouettes and cards with this product.
Awesome giveaway! I would use this on every single scrapbook page I make, plus vinyl-ize my house hee hee not a word but you know what I mean :)
Hmmm… Maybe glass etching? Maybe cards? Maybe all of the above! :)
I want a Silhouette now SO bad. Thank you for educating us all about this amazing machine!!
I went to the site and I would use my Silhouette to make custom vinyl wall decor (I especially love the idea of “Welcome” on the front door with a swirl). I would also use it to label my glass casserole dishes and make great wedding gifts by glass etching “Sugar” and “Flour” onto large white glass jars (I got that for my wedding and LOVED it).
Anyway, here’s to hoping!!
OMG!!! I NEEEEEED one of these. Do I really have to pick one project? I guess I’d say those super cute text books covered in the cute paper with the names in fun fonts. Makes me want to go back to school!
I’m really in love with the ability to use this to create etched glass templates. I’m not so steady with the x-acto knife – so my etched projects are pretty much dots and stripes. I would love to easily put someone’s name on a glass/plate/mirror!
What a great giveaway! I would love to do the heat transfres on clothes, plus decorate our walls :) Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
I commented on the Facebook wall too!
I would love to make vinyl decals for my kids rooms. So easy to change when they get tired of the decor. Thanks for the chance to win.
Oh heavens! Desperately need this to assist me in decorating for my daughter’s 1st birthday party: cupcake holders for 75 cupcakes! HALP! Not to mention cupcake toppers…a happy birthday banner, and goodness gracious we are going to need dozens of thank you notes cut out of candid photos from her party!
I’ve had me eye on these for some time now. There are so many possibilities! Glass etching, vinyl, heat transfers!!! WOW!
I love the glass etchings…so many ideas i am dying to try.
so do you know what i’ve been doing this week? revamping my entryway with a new coat of paint and hundreds and hundreds of vinyl leaves, all piled on top of each other, trickling down from the ceiling. leaves cut by hand. a roll or two of vinyl (nice colors on their site!) and one Silhouette and i could be by the pool right now, instead of cutting leaves! amazing!
I would love this! I love that you can make up your own designs. I would have my house covered in vinyl decals! I also love the glass etching… LOVE the little fishbowl.
Vinyl wall decals! I would LOVE to design my own. This thing looks awesome!
this is soooo great!!!!!!!!!!
i love the ideas for cards and garlands!!
many many thanks for the chance, I hope win!!
I love the heat transfers for shirts! Wow, could I get into that! There goes my whole summer!
I would really love to try the heat transfer techniques, but honestly, I’d probably find a way to use this for just about every craft and sewing project!
I would make wall art and food art and shirts, socks, table art.
I love the titles on the books. I would love to win this!
You are right, what an amazing give-away! All the possibilities are inspiring, but I would put the Silhouett to use straight away on the place cards, menus and other paper items for my October wedding reception.
I am in LOVE!!! This has got to be the coolest thing I have ever seen and I am dying to try it out!!! I have about a million project ideas running through my head right now!! Of course I would use it for many, many projects related to my upcoming wedding, and vinyl wall art for our house, and making cards….the list could go on for days!!! AMAZING!!!
I love the “cute as a bug” vinyl design!
I think this is the first crafting machine I’ve ever really wanted. It’s amazing and so affordable to keep updating. I love the cupcake wrappers – you could really whip up an amazing party.
Oh my, I am in love! I love the vinyl lettering for the walls (all of it!) and I also love the glass etched 13×9 pan! No more worrying about it getting lost at family get-togethers!
I would love to use this to make wall decor! I love the idea of using it on glass too! There are so many possibilities with this machine! Thanks so much for the great giveaway! :)
I have loads and loads of books, but have always been unhappy with how random the bindings look. I’ve tried to dress the bookcases, but haven’t been very happy with the results. One of the projects on the Silhouette site deals with making custom book bindings and lettering. I think that would be an EXCELLENT project! I could coordinate the bindings on all my books by making custom dust covers. It’d look so awesome!
Oh my, that thing is amazing! I’d use it to make stencils for appliques or painting, and I love those cupcake wrappers. I’m so exciting just thinking about it!
The glass etching on the bottom of the pyrex pan (etching your family name) – talk about making sure you get your pan back in a very tasteful way! Thanks, Maureen (jnomaxx at hotmail dot com)
What an awesome giveaway! I love the birdie but I also love the train cutout that is made into a birthday crown. Really would be the hit of a party.
My goodness, so many new little projects to do with this thing- definitely the wall transfers, labeling for school invitations, cake decorating, the etching for outdoor candle making, the options are endless and exciting!!
Definitely stencils for painting! This looks so cool!!
I’d love to make some vinyl wall decals, just like the ones shown on the main site
I LOVE the pillow with the heat transfer. I could see doing pillowcases for the kids with this and all kinds of things. Thanks for the chance at such at awesome giveaway!
I want to be able to put words on the walls at work for my employer, who keeps bugging me about it because I’m the “crafty” one… and then use it for fun stuff for myself of course! :-)
Oh my goodness! FUN! I would do the glass etching for sure and paper crafting. I would LOVE one of these!
sketch pens!! awesome!
This is amazing. I want to do wall transfers. Thanks for the chance to win.
I’d definitely do a bunch of designs for some t-shirts! I have so many fun ideas!!
Oh! The fonts! The fonts! The fonts! I am hyperventilating here :) First thing I’ll make is vinyl wall art using an elegant font…hmmm, which one? Well, I’ll work that out with lots of experimentation and show you when it’s done. This is everything I had wished that ‘bug’ were…not a problem: I’ll give my ‘bug’ away in a heartbeat! Thanks for the fun and opportunity…
Vinyl everywhere, I can see it now. Got to have one of these. Thanks for the great giveaway. JL
I’m in party-planning mode so I would definitely use this to make the cupcake liners! Adorable!
I’d love to make that adorable Aloha card!
I have so many wall decor and clothing items that need some touching up and the silhouette would make that sooooo easy!
I would make some book covers for my daughter with the Silhouette. Pick me! Pick me! My wife would love me even more, forever! :)
I like you on FB. I NEED one of these!
great giveaway! i love that fish bowl!
if i got one, i’d probably start out with a little hello vinyl to stick up on my entryway mirror. i’m a bit of a font nut, so i’m sure i’d spend forever getting it just right & be ridiculously excited.
I love the vinyl decor ideas! I would love to use the machine for home decor and gifts.
If I won one of these fabulous machines the first thing I would make is a heat transfer design for a t-shirt/onesie combo. We have baby number #2 on the way and what the Silhouette could do would blow my freezer paper skills out of the water. If I don’t win I’ll be asking for an early birthday present from the hubbie!
I would definitely make a ton of personalized cards with them to give away to friends and family. they’d be sooo impressed! :)
I’d like to try the heat transfer! Looks like it would be really fun!
I have a ton of projects I would use the Silhouette for- but I think I would start with the heat transfer and my teen’s clothes so he could sport a one-of-a-kind cool style and I’d be the awesome mom. :o)
I would love to use it! I could make so many things for school – decorating bulletin boards and making fun crafts for the students. And I would totally use it for all of the cards I love to make!
I love the heat transfer stuff on the shirts and pillows. Awesomeness!
I love this product!! I would definitely make some of the vinyl decals…for my walls, for my computer, my car…so many possibilities!
I want to etch some glass that looks amazing!
I wouldn’t know where to start…personalized cards, heat transfers, paper crafts. The possibilities are endless!
Oh I LOVE the glass etching!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE the fish bowl!!
Oh my gosh. I want one soooooo bad. The drop you’re laundry here is so cute. I’d like to bling my laptop too.oh the poh the possibilities. Thanks
wait I have to pick just one project from their website? because I’m fairly certain that if I won this amazing little thing I would never leave my apartment again…ok I would but someone would have to drag me. I want to make personalized cards even cuter than the ones I currently make, I want to make wall decals for my very boring walls, I want to decorate cakes and I want to make props for my photography business that I’m desperately trying to get moving!
I absolutely love the glass etching projects!
The Silhouette would make etching projects so much more fun and easy. It would be great for painting stencils, too. So many possibilities.
I want one of these so bad! I love everything that they did with these!
definitely vinyl on a tile
I am in love with the glass etching….I could do so many cool things with my collection of fonts!
Also the banners, the wall decals……
I heard about this machine just last week and have been trying to figure out how I could convince my husband that we just can’t live without one, winning one would be the perfect solution. I would make a vinyl sign for my laundry room, maybe it would make me enjoy laundry more – I had been planning to purchase one but making it myself would be so much better! I would also love to try the glass etching!
I can’t pick just one, lol. I want to make the cupcake liners and homemade cards and the wall decor…ideas galore!
I love the glass etching and the possibilities that little machine holds!!! I could revamp their “school projects” section with better examples- just give me the opportunity!!!! :) Pick me, pick me!!!!! ;)
I would love to use this for vinyl wall decor. We just moved into a new home and have a clean palette to decorate on!
Holy heck, how cool! I’d have to do a spin off of their fish bowl etching and use it to monogram some wine glasses as hostess gifts for summer parties.
i love them all but especially the silhouettes and the book covers! woohoo
What an amazing little machine! The possibilities are endless…..as would be my piles of laundry! Even so I’d be so very happy to win this great giveaway! I just love the etched fish bowl and the schoolbook spines……
The cards! My husband and I are missionaries in a country where cards are not available. I would love to make some to send home and give to friends here.
I would LOVE to win this! I’d be doing t-shirts for the grandkids, projects for my classroom (like the most awesomest bulletin boards) designing cards…I may have to give up sleeping if I win so I would have more time to play with the Silhouette!
I am a school teacher and would love to use it for my kids to design their own journals!!! Looks great!!! I want to win!!
I love the scrapbooking and heat transfer ideas on silhouette’s website! Thanks for such an awesome giveaway!!!!
I want a Silhouette now SO bad!! I really have my heart set on making a family rules canvas, this would make the project FABULOUS!!
I want to make the snowflakes in the paper crafting section. I want to make tons of them and use them to decorate the house this winter … all different sizes in shades of light blue.
My first project would be glass etching…..then vinyl designs for the wall, heat transfers, scrapbooking….I wouldn’t leave the house for months :)
I’m in the process of planning my son’s first birthday party and I’d love to make all the decorations using this! Did you see the little gift boxes? Darling.
Oh my word! I’ve never heard of this, but it looks awesome!
I have been talking about decorating with vinyl decals but haven’t liked a design yet! I could make my own – and some for my niece’s newly painted room, too! Pick me! Pick me!
I would definitely do some glass etching. I’ve been wanting to try that for awhile. But really, I would do all kinds of things. Homemade gifts are definitely my thing. If I don’t win this I might very well buy it. It’s almost my birthday, after all.
Wow……..I would certainly start out with the cupcake liners. They look terrific.
I’ve been wanting to cover my walls with an intricate pattern from a turkish carpet I saw & sketched once. I lack the patience to make each component by hand, but with this…well, I think my walls would be gorgeous in no time!
I’d like to try making some wall decals and some glass etching too!
I know I would be pretty busy for quite awhile if I got one of these. But then at least one of my daughters would be fighting me for time to use it, too!
Wow! I really hope I win this. I have been hearing a lot about this machine in the blogosphere lately. :)
For some reason I just think the glass etched fish bowl is TOO cute! If I win, I might just have to get a fish so I can make one. Ha Ha!
Oh, how I want a Silhouette!! My first projects would probably be from paper, but I love the tshirt and pillows using heat transfers! Oh, and the ability to use fonts from your computer is a major plus!! Oh, and I realllllly want to try vinyl cutting!!
There are so many things I could do with this. The glass etching and wall vinyl are first on my list.
I love the laundry vinyl lettering! so cute!
I would do glass etching. I love the cookie jar on their site :)
These are SO awesome! I want to make t shirts and cupcake papers and every project they suggest, really.
I REALLY want one of these! I am most anxious to try out the heat transfer, but I’m not going to lie … I think I’d try every project it is capable of. Genius product!
If I had this amazing tool, I would like to try my hand at glass etching by decorating mirrors and framing them as gifts. I also want to make awesome possum pillows using heat transfers!
Well, this is an amazing giveaway! I was going to say I would (obviously) use it for scrapbooking, but then I saw that it can do wall decals, and since I have been obsessing over wall decals lately, that sounds like a little bit of serendipity. Thanks for the chance!
wow great giveaway….all the projects on their site look awesome to make, but my favorite would be to make paper crafts for my daughter’s birthday that is coming up in July. I love the cute cake boxes and gift boxes you can give to the guests. Thank you.
Oh so many projects…I love them all! I have wanted to try glass etching for quite sometime. My boyfriend and I make our own mead & beer, so I would etch us some beautiful custom glasses. Come to think of it, I could also make some rockin’ labels with this thing. Not to mention a great sign for the door of our brewery (aka the cellar underneath the stairs)…oh, I definitely think I need one. :)
Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
There are a ton of projects on their site I would love to do, but the first one I would try would be glass etching.
Holy cow. This is the ultimate personalization tool. With our first baby on the way, my mind is reeling with ways to use it for the little nugget. Iron on transfers for plain onesies. A fun nursery wall decal. Monogrammed diaper bag. Oh, the possibilities are endless indeed. Two thumbs up for such a fantastic giveaway.
I love to scrapbook and make cards and little somethings to fill frames. I also love making boxes and bags out of paper. Those are some of the things I would use the Silhouette for. <3
I would love to do a silhouette of my dog. Kind of embarrassing, but true. She’s a mutt and doesn’t look quite like any other breed so this way it could be a picture of her that I use. I can think of a zillion other projects I would use, too! This looks like a great tool!
I absolutely love wall decals and being able to make my own would make decorating so much easier! This tool would be lovely for cardmaking too! Oh the possibilities…
FUN, FUN, FUN!!! I would love to get my hands on one of these machines. I can think of so many things we could make for our homeschool, in our house, on the farm….The first thing I’d love to do is etch glass jars like they have on their site. We are in the process of designing and building a new kitchen. I want jars filled with old-fashioned candy lining one counter, much like an old-fashioned general store.
OH BOY do I really really really want one of these! Oh, the possibilities….PLEASE pick me!!
Oh my! I love the vinyl. It would be so fun to let the kids pick a design and we could redo their room with wall decals. This seems waaaaay better than a Cricut.
Fun – fun!! I like the heat transfer projects. I have tried a bit of this with freezer paper stencils, but there is only so much detail you can do with that, so the Silhouette SD would be very cool to have.
I’ve been wanting Silhouette forever! I bought a crappy Cricut before I heard about the Silhouette and I was sooo bummed. I really want to make those cute cupcake liners and I’ve seen some adorable cupcake boxes.
Oh my heavens, AmberLee. I think I would sooo enjoy and love the Silhouette and would use it for a multitude of things. First up, though, would be to design a party ensemble from invite to decorations to party favors — all just for the fun of it and with no particular occasion in mind. How fun!
Oh my, I am absolutely in love with this. If it can cut vector files, all the better. But what I really want to do is use it to cut out papercrafts for me! It’d do such a better job than me, and the fun part is the glueing. It would also be amazing if it came with a scoring point, so you could score, rather than cut.
I love everything about it, we are teaching the kids now to put their dirty socks in the basket by the stairs (because they walk off) and toys in specific bins, this would help so much to make words and Pictures!!! oh I love love love it…. I am thinking positive thoughts so I win!!
I make almost all my own holiday, birthday, and other celebratory cards. This would be awesome in so many ways!!
I would love to make some really fun birthday banners!
I would love, love, LOVE to make some vinyl decals to put on my icky old filing cabinet. I think it would be AWESOME to cover my gray tower of files with black flourishes and flowers. :)
This is just about the coolest thing I’ve seen in a long, long time. The organizational geek in me would love to label our textbook spines this way!
Wow, wouldn’t it be great to win this thing???!!! I’m in love with the heat transfer images. I’d use it to make t-shirts for an upcoming family vacation. Fingers crossed!!!
I am in love with the cookie jar project. What a great give away.
I would do some glass etching and vinyl decor.
So cool! Would love the vinyl to decorate my sons room!! All the Activity Day crafts we could with this, oh the possibilities are endless!!!
I want me one of these in a baaaaaad way! I bought the XYRON version and the software conflicts with something else on my computer (so I had to remove it), it was confusing to figure out which version of which software to use and it had a hard time cutting paper. I’ve heard of only good things about the Silo SD. I want to cut freezer paper stencils to decoration tote bags with it. I’d also also like to try the heat transfer paper. Plus I’d cut vinyl notes to put on the bathroom mirror to surprise my kids.
My fingers are crossed (so hard I’ve lost feeling in them) that I win.
Thanks for a great give away!

I love all the machines that continue to come out to help us create some amazing things. I went through page after page of the Flickr photos to see what everyone was making – did you see that someone decorated Sterlite drawers? That’s awesome! I’ve got some in my office and they are bland and boring. I’d totally “gussy” them up! I could have used this machine a few months ago to help make invitations or party favors for a bachelorette party this past Saturday. I’ve got a 75th birthday party invite I’ve been trying to design, and the Silhouette and the card designs people have posted have made my ideas look a mess! :)

I will be all over the glass etching and wall vinyl if I win! Thank you!
The first thing I’d make would be wording for my front door. But, seriously, your banana glasses were too cute…what fun!!!!!
I’d like to learn how to make the cards.
What a great tool! I love the little baby onesie with the submarine on it & would use the Silhouette to make customized baby gifts for friends.
How to choose? I’d label, label, label – kids’ toys and drawers!
The possibilities are endless with the silhouette! I am very active in my children’s school and this would come in so handy..From cute cupcake holders and decorations for school parties/fundraisers to adorable t-shirts for field day with the iron-on transfers, I would have so much fun with this machine!
The first thing I would do is decorate my daughter’s room with vinyl. I really want one of these!!!
I have been courting this thing for about a month! I would love to have it to make Vinyl Wall decor and personalized gifts!!!
I would do vinyl stuff for my wall, and make christmas and other presents with it.
L.O.V.E! Oh my. Incredible! I’ve been wanting some kind of machine like this for so long. I really love the fish tank, but think it would be cool to label glasses for my kids. Then I’d label their toys with words and pictures, silhouette and name their doors, join the sihlouette machine addict’s group, decorate my computer all cute…
Oh my goodness – this would be so much fun! I would love to make vinyl wall decor for my new apartment, and would also make about a million gifts for my nieces and nephews. How fun!!
love this! can’t decide what i’d do first, vinyl letters for a monogram or the cupcake wrappers
How fun is this! I would love to see what I could make out of the vinyl, so many things, I would love to make some custom dishes or glasses.
What an amazing machine! I would make tons of t-shirts, but mostly!! I would do many of the etched glass projects. I love those!
This is a great tool! I bought my first house about a year ago, and we are finally almost done tearing down wall-paper and repainting the thing… Soon we’ll be ready to decorate! The Silhouette would allow us to make some custom pieces to truly enhance our home.
Thank you for sharing this unique product!!
My fiance has been making preparations for our wedding before we were engaged. I haven’t been as involved as she’d like me to, but I do recall an idea she had about asking all guests to send a picture of themselves with their RSVPs and incorporating them into lockets as place cards. She gave up when she realized there was no realistic way to do this without spending a fortune on getting the backs of the lockets carved with table numbers… now, with the etching feature of this, I think we’d be able to do it ourselves. I’d love to be able to bring her to this realization.
My wife is the crafting genius, and would likely use this to add to our current collection of pricey wall decals. I may even poke around at making custom beer labels for my homebrew.
There are tons of things I’d love to do with one of these.Maybe I’d start with some cute cupcake holders. Great giveaway!
WOW What a great thing!!!! This would be great for making cards, or even cutting out vinyl shapes or letters for wall hangings. That’s just to name a few. Awesome!!!
Hugs!!!

This is awesome, and that fish bowl is so adorable I want to go and buy a fish named Ernie!!! :)
I want to make everything on here! I would start with making home made gifts for any of the seven weddings I have this summer. Wedding gifts are expensive but if I could make the new couples personalized glass plates or glasses, it would be a special (and cheaper) gift and we’d both win!
I would love to do the vinyl decor & make some cool things for my kids walls in their rooms!
I love the home decor. I love to see all the awesome things you can make for walls or anything for the house. I sure hope I win one.

I’ve been eyeing a Silhouette for a while – so many fun options in card making & crafting. My first project would probably be doing something on a shirt for my son, because he always gets a lot less goodies than my daughter!
Thanks for hosting the giveaway!
Wow! There are so many things I would like to make with the Silhouette! The first would be a vinyl saying, like the laundry room or kitchen sayings.

Awesome giveaway! Thank you! I would love to get my hands on some heat transfer! What an awesome machine!

This is so amazing. It does so much and is so verasatile. I must have one of these. I have so much in my head I need to get done. Did you see what it does with rhinestones?????? awesome.
Because of the internal laser – the Silhouette knows exactly where a preprinted image is located on the page. You can cut out pre-printed gumpaste images that have been printed as an edible image for a cake. I love the scroll designs from the Silhouette website – I would probably choose one of those first.
I am dying to win one of these!!! Thanks
I would go crazy with heat transfers and vinyl. I really want to win one of these!
I would love to make some fun inspirational wall art my girls’ rooms.
How cool. My favorite part is that you can do vinyl t-shirt transfers.
