Doily Pom Pom Tutorial

We’re starting this week with a bang. I have two tutorials for you that will have you set to party. Tomorrow’s tutorial I hadn’t planned to post, but over the last two months I’ve had several emails requesting it. So I’ll have it all ready for you by then. But first, a little something you can throw together the next time you have cause to celebrate.

This is a quick frilly pom pom you can throw together. We loved the result, and thought it looked a little like Chihuly meets Victoria. Wouldn’t that be an interesting dinner party? (Your remember the heart garland, of course. It’s our version from this tutorial.)

Before Valentine’s, I picked up $3 worth of paper doilies. I’ve gotten some serious mileage out of them. Besides using them to wrap gifts, we used them for cupcake wraps (remember these?), and for this hanging doily centerpiece for our tea party. It was so simple I thought I’d pass it on.

We lined up our doilies.

Then started from the outside and cut in a spiral towards the center.

I love the curly lacey strands.

Finally, I just used a little tape to layer the tops and stick them together, with alternating colors.  Do you like it? I’d love to see someone try with colored tissue paper.
