Mandarins, Blog Troubles, and Other Randomness

11.20.09

Between the months of November and December my town is an especially good place to be. It’s the time when satsuma mandarins are ripening in private orchards up and down the hillsides. We got our first mandarins of the season yesterday from a friend. She stopped by with a shoebox full from her own orchard. I have been watching these juicy gems disappear one by one, and finding mandarin peels and happy kids in their place.

I put a request on elance and am waiting for a brilliant and cheap WordPress hero to swoop in and rescue me. I’m also thinking of taking on ads to cover this and other programming patches. I’m looking at using BlogHer ads. Any words of advice?

Tonight we started listening to Dicken’s A Christmas Carol. I know, it’s too early. But we can’t help ourselves. It’s soooo good. I eat it up, and try not to sigh and chuckle in delight more than absolutely necessary.

I’m on my second recipe for pumpkin granola. Both were disappointing. I’m beginning to believe it is not meant to be.

Thanks to those of you who shared some incredible gift ideas this week. I’m overwhelmed by how thoughtful and very clever some of you are. How lucky are the people you share your life with (I include myself in that lucky group).

Thanks to a few readers who have said nice things about me on your blogs. These keep me going when I’m having one of those days. You know the kind. When you start second guessing everything from how much time you spend online to whether you’re eating enough whole grains. So thank you.

One last thing. Be excited for Monday. I have quite the treat of an interview for you.

Until then, have a great weekend.

I really like blogher ads. They pay more than google or similar, and they generally have much more tasteful looking content.

Amber,
I would highly recommend Brooke Hall at http://ohbrooke.com/ for your Wordpress guru. I worked with her on my site. She’s smart, clever and quick. I hope this helps.

I’m in serious second-guessing mode so I can relate to yours! Rest assured your efforts, blog and creativity are much appreciated.

I’d like info about advertising on your blog. Shoot me an email with details.

Whitney :)

I love this blog and have been so inspired by the ideas you present here.

As for technological issues, I am a complete ninny.

As for Dickens, there is a gentleman in Saskatoon who does the entire thing – One-Man Christmas Carol – every single year. It’s a treat and he does it so well. (Although, I suspect based on his manners and dress, he himself may have been written by Dickens…) If you decide to make the hike up north, I’ll go with you to see it. :-)
