A few ideas I love for end-of-year teacher gifts the whole class can join in on.
Self-portrait tee. Put each child to work drawing a self portrait with a marker, then have the art silk screened on a tee or an apron for the teacher. (Kids in the class may want to order a tee for themselves. My kiddos love theirs from preschool.)
Poetry suit case. I just love this. Minerva from Mama without Borders printed poems on tags and attached them to an object from the poem. The box is decoupaged with her kids’ own art (via here). I’d start with Casey at the Bat, Jabberwocky, and some A.A. Milne.
Reading basket, from Family Fun. Have each child donate a copy of a beloved book for the teacher to use in the classroom.
Decoupage flower pot, image and instructions here. Each child brings a picture or scrap to add. We’ve also done this with just paint. One of the moms sectioned off a giant terra cotta planter and let each child paint away on his or her piece.
Creative class photo. One mom from Family Fun had the kids spell out “THANKS FOR A GREAT YEAR” in a series of photos of them making letters with their bodies. Or do something fanciful. Pictured is a detail from the “dreams of flying” series from Jan von Holleben (found via here). You must visit her gallery. I absolutely love her series, each shot captures childhood so perfectly.
