Make-Your-Own-Cone Tattoos

06.28.11

When I told my kids I had a couple sheets of tattoo paper on hand you would have thought I’d just told them they were each getting a new puppy. (We are not going there, by the way.)

We’ve been playing around with the endless possibilities of drawing some custom tats or picking out premade designs. While we were playing we discovered you can layer homemade tattoos. And that sealed the deal.

I drew out some cones, some ice cream flavors, some toppings. (You can see other custom Silhouette projects I did here and here.) When my daughter had her cute friend over, I let them go to town. And here is what they picked.

They’re both soft serve fans. I can respect a good soft serve, but I’d go for the scoop and hot fudge myself.

By the way, today is the last day to enter a certain giveaway I have going on. I’ll announce a winnetright here tonight.

That is the cutest idea! We’re having an ice cream party soon for my almost-two-year old and I’d love to use that idea but I think they might be too young to get it.

I love the idea for the kids I nanny, but do I need a silhouette to make this happen and can i create what ever design I want? Was it easy to work with? Thanks in advance!

Hi Maggie,

Thanks for your note. You can TOTALLY use the silhouette tatoo paper without a silhouette. Just use scissors instead. And yes, the tattoo paper went on super easy. I couldn’t believe how easy it was. The only downside is that it comes off pretty quickly in the tub or in the pool. Hope this helps. And those are some lucky kids to have such a fun nanny.

Love your website! This one gives me pause, though. Don’t play tattoos seem a lot like candy cigarettes? Child’s play – modeling future adult behavior…

I love LOVE this idea, but is there anywhere you can buy printable tattoo paper for a decent price? I’ve been looking online and I’m thinking no way am I going to pay 20 bucks for 5 sheets of paper. Am I just too cheap?
