Hot Chocolate Bar How-To and Printables

01.27.11

When we decided to get serious about opening up shop and making hot chocolate on a stick, we had a few reasons we were especially excited. And one of them was this,

parties.

I love all kinds of parties, but my favorite are the kind with simple prep and a big bang. So we decided to dedicate an entire page to those kinds of parties on The Ticket Kitchen site. And of course, we wanted our hot chocolate Ticket Sticks to be able to get all dressed up for our parties too, so we created a set of free printables to offer on our party page.

Click here to see our free printables page.

One of the simplest parties we’ve tried has been a potluck hot chocolate bar, which is best thrown on a complete whim. We’ve had great fun seeing toppings and mixins that friends and family come up with. I always insist on homemade marshmallows, of course (I make a bazillion at one time and then keep them in the freezer, they last forever). And here are a few other fun toppings we’ve thought were good, or at least, good for conversation.

crystallized ginger
cinnamon bears or red hots
real maple syrup
bacon crumbles
cinnamon sticks
vanilla beans
toffee
fresh mint
anise
raspberry puree
almond butter
lemon rind

Such a lovely, lovely idea. I just might have to throw a hot cocoa/chocolate potluck party. Any cute reason for a party, right?!

I like your blog and all the great gift ideas. I think it unfortunate that I can’t find half of your links to other blogs for tutorials or instructions. I have looked at about 20 of your gift ideas and been able to link to a grand total of 3 instruction pages. For some of them the idea itself is sufficient, but for most I would love to be able to get to the instructions.

I Angie,

I’m so glad you found my inspiration boards. Thanks so much for taking a moment to comment.

I am so sorry about the missing links on my gift inspiration board. The story behind it is one of the great tragic moments of my blogging life! I paid for some web development a few months ago and one morning woke up to find every link missing. My developer had no idea how it happened, and it only happened on one of my boards, not both. I’ve been trying to replace them one by one, but finding the time has been really tough. Some of them I remember and recognize, others are much harder to track down. I thought about taking them all down, but am still hanging onto hope of eventually re-finding all the links. If you have a particular favorite maybe you can let me know what it is and I can see if I can find the original, which is what I’ve been doing for other readers, and replacing links as I go. I would love to help!

You can email me at info [at] giverslog [dot] com

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by!

Ooh! Fresh fixing ideas!!! Every December I throw a Hot Chocolate and Ornament Exchange party. Six years and it continues to grow in attendance (despite the competition of the holiday season) but yet it’s still simple to pull together. :)
Fresh whipped cream is a must – and we have fun taking turns whipping!
But cayenne pepper is always the star! (if you never have- it’s a MUST. Not too much just a slight sprinkle.)

Next year I want to have something coffee infused too.
